Our kids continue to learn the important achievements of some of history’s great leaders during Black History Month.
To recognize Black History Month, we read “The Sneetches” by Dr. Suess. The book tells a story of how Star-Belly Sneetches treated Plain-Belly Sneetches differently because they didn’t have stars on their bellies. We then asked the children what they knew of Black History Month, and why we acknowledge all the hard work that was put in to make sure that everyone was treated equally. The children then had a chance to think about what their dream was, because Martin Luther King had a dream. The prompt they had to go off of was “Martin Luther King had a dream and so do I !”… here are their dreams:
