Changing the World ... One kid at a time.
"I volunteered at the CFK thinking I could be a positive influence for some of the kids. It didn't take long to realize that I was actually learning humility, compassion and the importance of laughter from them" "It's rewarding when the kids express their appreciation for your service. The kids enjoy the time they spend with you very much and they let you know how much fun they are having. Volunteering with the children makes you often realize how important organizations like the coalition are to communities, small and large." "I feel like I am a "nobody" in terms of what I give to these kids in my 2 hours twice a week, but to them, the very miniscule time that I give (from my perspective), means the world to these kids. I really enjoy the time I spend with them." "Having volunteers could be one of the most important aspects of the Coalition. Without them the personal relationships with the children would never have a chance to be made. And without the relationships, the Coalition would be nothing." "I have found that most volunteers who come to serve do so thinking they are helping someone else's life. The Bible says that it is more blessed to give than to receive. It is rare to find someone who volunteers from their heart who would not agree that even though they came to serve someone they leave feeling like they have been blessed. A child touches their heart and opens them up for the first time to see life and the volunteer has been made a better person. As people reach out to touch others and help change lives, especially children, they have no ability to recognize the tremendous influence they have over the entire world. As one child's life is changed because of caring hands they touch another and they touch another and eventually through the first one the world has changed and no one knew it was the volunteer at the community center that started it. That's the global thing about volunteerism, it spreads like wildfire." If you would like to volunteer, please print out and fill in the Volunteer Application, and drop it by the Rock Community Center or fax it to us at 423-434-9998.
